Special Ingredient: Pumpkin

It’s no secret that wellness is one of our priorities at Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts. We take pride in serving our guests a variety of cuisine that is both delicious and healthy. Now that summer is officially over and fall has arrived, we’ve decided to take a closer look at the heath benefits of the popular fall fruit—pumpkin! Pumpkin is one of several special ingredients used at Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita that makes your mouth water and helps your body feel nourished.

Surprisingly, pumpkin is one of the most nutrient packed fruits you can eat. The plump orange fruit has both anti-aging and disease-fighting properties while being low in fat and calories. Pumpkin contains nutrients such as alpha and beta-carotene, fiber, potassium and magnesium as well as vitamins C and E. The alpha and beta-carotene in pumpkin promotes healthy vision and proper immune function. The beta-carotene can reverse skin damage caused by the sun and the alpha-carotene is thought to slow aging and reduce the risk of developing both cataracts and tumors.  These nutrients are also thought to lessen the risk of heart disease because of their immune boosting properties.
