Spa Treatment: Hydromassage

We are all about wellness and relaxation at Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts. Aside from gorgeous beaches, beautiful pools and delicious restaurants, we also offer a number of spa treatments including massages, facials, manicures and pedicures.

Our 22,000 sq. ft. spa at Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya is a tranquil oasis that transcends all others by offering the first certified Thalassotherapy Spa in North America. The Thalasso Center & Spa offers guests a wide range of treatments combining ancient traditions and modern health science for an utterly relaxing and tranquil spa experience.

One very popular treatment is the hydromassage, a state of the art hydrotherapy treatment in a warm seawater tub applied using a choice of six computerized treatment protocols to control 72 water, air and ozone jets strategically positioned along acupressure meridians. It has numerous benefits including relaxation and stress reduction, increased circulation, elimination of toxins, relieved fluid retention and remineralization.

Recently, Jeannine Morris of Beauty Sweet Spot visited Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya and tried the hydromassage for herself. Here’s what she had to say about it:

Last week I took a time out from the 50 degree temperatures in NYC and went on a press trip with Schick to the Riviera Maya, Mexico and had the honor of staying at the Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya.  While I was there I experienced my first Hydromassage.  It’s not a treatment I would normally choose off of a spa menu, but now that I’ve gotten it, I highly recommend it (and yes they’re available in spas across the US too).

Picture getting into a tiny jacuzzi set at 72 degrees made just for you.  It contours with the curves of you body and has about 40 jets all along the sides with a bar at the bottom that you can rest your feet on so you don’t float from left to right as the jets push you.  That’s what I stepped into.  Filled with salt water and micronized algae (to help reduce cellulite), I soaked in the mini tub for about 30 minutes as the strategically placed jets were programed to pump out at different speeds massaging my body from my shoulders down to my feet.

Inside Look: Thalassotherapy Center

On my last trip to Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita, I got the opportunity to tour the resort’s Thalassotherapy Center. Here are some of tid-bits I learned from my visit to the only certified center in North America.

Thalassotherapy is based on the use of a variety of marine elements to promote health and wellbeing. The therapeutic benefits of Thalassotherapy have been recognized for thousands of years by many ancient Mediterranean civilizations and recently validated by modern scientific studies and the European medical establishment. Thalassotherapy treatments are not only sensually stimulating, but are also highly recommended to relieve stress, detoxify the body, help with circulation problems and many more.

Zoëtry Paraiso’s center offers a wide variety of Thalasso programs. Here are some of the ones I was dying to try:

Thalasso Slimming and Anti-Cellulite Cure—Through a variety of steps this program is designed to have sliming results in as little as six days. Who wouldn’t want to come back from vacation looking fitter than when you left?

Thalasso Serenity and Anti-Stress Program—Allows guests to put their minds and bodies at rest in three to six days through a variety of treatments. You may believe that vacation is enough to relax and distress you, but after you see what is involved in this program you will know that you have never been truly relaxed before.

Restore your body to a state of harmony through Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita’s Thalasso Center & Spa’s indoor Jacuzzi Spa.

The outdoor Hydrotherapy sea-water pool at the Thalasso Center & Spa availabe to heal, revitalize and detoxify.

One of the many private massage cabins available to create a sensual experience to soothe the mind, body and soul.

What is Your Emotional Core?

We have all turned inside in that moment of doubt. Left wondering, where are we really going? Or, why aren’t living our purpose? These questions always lead us to the same answer; we would rather be living our life to the fullest.

In order to live, truly live, it must be through our Core. As the tree has it roots we have our Core—the deepest part of who we are, which is controlled through our heart first, the nervous system second, then our consciousness, and finally the robot brain.

If we learn how to consciously take over our consciousness, we are in the moment and can remain in the moment, which allows us to be stress and worry free. What I like to call Zen on Earth.

At Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana, I teach guests how to finally connect their mind and body. During a three-day retreat, participants and I will share over eight hours of private training time together to help them reach this connection. Learn more about the program here:

Come let me change your life like I did mine and many others. This is my life purpose. Let me help you live yours.

Does this path have a heart?

Look at every path closely and deliberately, and ask yourself this critical question: does this path have a heart? If your answer is yes, than the path is good. If your answer is no, than this path is of no use. This may seem simple but until each of us learns to look at every path this way, our health, life, sleep, stress levels, weight and general mood are all affected.

The Wills System and the Laws of Love has developed a program that helps guests increase happiness, heal sorrow and regret and bond them in healthy, life-enhancing relationships. In this program, we teach participants how to sue these simple yet powerful laws of love, which allow them to form better relationships with their friends, lovers, parents, children, coworkers and even strangers.

I have personally experienced this in the last three months of my life and would have never been able to move on without these techniques that I worked on for so many years to help both you and myself   The power of the heart plus, the mind body connection that only The Wills System has been able to show so many, enabled me and now you to do this.

Are you ready to be young again? I hope so! Come follow us.

Helping the People of Haiti

Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and extensive earthquake damage to the people of Haiti, neighbors of the Dominican Republic.

Making a monetary donation is easier than it’s ever been.

Simply Text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10, to the American Red Cross Relief Effort and when prompted, hit “YES” to confirm the donation.

While most organizations, including the Red Cross, are citing monetary donations as the primary need for the victims, guests heading to the Dominican Republic in the near future can contribute in a more unique way by bringing medical supplies from the list below. Guests can donate any of these items at our resorts which will then be delivered to local relief centers, taken to Haiti and given directly to those in need.

MEDICINES:

  • Oral rehydration
  • Gauze
  • Cotton
  • Analgesics (acetaminophen, ibuprofen)
  • Slings
  • Elastic Bandage
  • Tetanus toxoid
  • Ganmaglobulina human tetanus
  • Antibiotics (amoxicifilina, in suspension and / or tablets)
  • Antiseptics (Betadine type or chlorhexidine soap type)
  • Sanitary napkins

We are extremely grateful that the Dominican Republic did not experience any damage from the earthquake. All resorts within the Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts brand are operating at 100%. Guest Blog Post: New Year’s Resolutions and Wellness

Here we go again, New Year’s Resolutions abound – I’m going to lose 35 pounds, my wife is going to quit smoking and my neighbor Sue says she really is going to join the gym this year. Sound familiar?

I spent this past New Years in the thick jungle of Dolphin Head Mountain in Western Jamaica. Here I visited with my Rastafarian friend Bruce, who for the past 25 years has lived his life in an open air home on a stretch of land that holds beautiful mountain views and is rich with mango, lemon, bamboo, sugar cane and banana trees.  His most precious belongings consist of a wheel-barrel full of books and a 10 year old flashlight which he uses to read with in the evening.

We talked for hours about life, spirituality, and happiness.  What became apparent to me in the time I spent with Bruce is the need for each one of us to take time to quite our minds, connect with spirit and reflect on creating true happiness.  Too many of us live an external life never taking the time to go within, where true happiness is cultivated and all successful change begins.

So, my advice to you in making this New Year’s Resolution a success whatever your goal may be is to follow Bruce –live simply and spend at minimum 15 minutes each day in quit meditation. You will be surprised at what you will achieve, the awareness that you obtain and the peacefulness that you will find.

Resolve to Go On Vacation

If you are like me, the New Year serves as a time of reflection—a time to look back at the previous year and set goals for the upcoming year. As you reflect on the previous year, did you use all of our vacation days? Did you take time to just relax and be pampered? Did you escape the stress of the everyday? If you are like most Americans, you did not.

This year, I am asking all of our readers to resolve to take vacation. Even if you can’t escape to a Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts to be pampered in the ultimate relaxing setting, it is important to take a break from life and go on vacation. It is proven that vacations have many benefits, besides just created happy memories. Vacations promote creativity and strengthen our bonds with loved ones. They help to stave off burnout and keep us healthy. And believe it or not, they can help your job performance!

What are some of your other resolutions this year?

As founder of The Wills System, a program based on achieving optimal wellness naturally, I see a variety of individuals, couples and families dealing with issues that rob their lives of health and happiness. In my 16 years of research, I have gone beyond conventional western medicine to find the root cause of why our bodies and mind react adversely to the many stressors in our environment and life.

At Zoëtry, each of our guests receive a comprehensive, multi-dimensional wellness regimen that will help them learn to eliminate stress, quiet their minds, return to normal sleep patterns, resolve weight issues, increase memory and intellect, eliminate pain, reconnect with themselves and their love ones.

By offering you a variety of specialized experiences, we can target your issues and help you obtain the results you seek. Our popular “Weight Control” experience will inspire you to attain and maintain an optimal and healthy weight. My staff and I guide you through new approaches to weight management that are custom designed for you. This approach goes far beyond the present day’s fads, trends and misconceptions such as “wine is a health food.”

Most people don’t know that red wine can keep anyone from obtaining the optimal weight loss they desire. Nearly 30 years ago, David J.A. Jenkins, MD, PhD, DSc, ranked many common foods on a 100-point scale. The higher the value, the greater effect a food or drink would have on increasing the amount of glucose in the bloodstream—an unfavorable result for both diabetics and those looking to shed pounds.

Red wine rates high on this 100-point scale, causing the body to glycate and stop the natural weight loss process. The pancreas has to produce a lot of insulin to take the sugar from the wine out of the bloodstream. This excess sugar goes to fat cells to be stored for a rainy day. The body then turns this stored sugar into free fatty acids that should be released back into the bloodstream when the blood-sugar level is low. However, since insulin blocks release of free fatty acids or our stored sugar, the body can’t get to its energy and the person eats more causing glucose levels to go up again. At the end of the day, weight has been gained from storing sugar in the fat cells.

To rejuvenate your body and restore natural health and balance, explore this and many other experiences my team and I offer by visiting http://www.zoetryresorts.com/Paraiso/experiences.html

In my next blog, I will discuss sleeping complaints and provide tips on sleeping more soundly that will work for everyone.

Be Well: Simple Yoga You Can Do Anywhere

Taking a vacation is the perfect way to relax, but, unfortunately, most people can’t be on vacation everyday. Here are three yoga moves that will help you recreate the relaxing feeling you get on vacation, even when you are in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

1. Cross your legs then rotate the ankle of the foot raised from the ground, making small circles with the points of the feet. Rotate in a clockwise direction as you breath in, and then switch to counter clockwise when you exhale. Do this 3 to 6 times then cross your legs in the opposite direction and do the same move with the other foot.

2. With both feet placed on the floor and your back supported against a seat breathe in deeply. While inhaling slowly contract the muscles of the feet, the legs, the thighs and then the abdomen. Breathe out and relax your muscles. Repeat 3 to 6 times

3. While breathing in, consciously contract all the muscles of the body starting with the feet and working upwards. As you breathe out slowly relax everything.
